Our History

Willowstone Academy first opened its doors in 1994 as “First Lutheran Christian School” on Bernard Avenue with three students in the basement of First Lutheran Church. Those three students quickly multiplied, and in 2004 a spacious and unique campus was built in Kelowna’s Lower Mission on Lakeshore Road to house both the church and the growing primary school.

By 2012, we were intentionally exploring ways to more meaningfully serve our community as an inclusive private school that is rooted in the Christian faith. This process of rebranding and re-imagining included the effort and energy of members of our church and school community–including our students! In 2014, Willowstone Academy was born with our vision and values that remain embedded in our manifesto.

Now, more than 2 decades later, we are not simply another Kelowna Christian school; but a diverse, faith-based, independent school that offers unique and authentic learning experiences for our community–from toddlers to teenagers. Willowstone Academy is dedicated to learning that matters, to celebrating a faith journey…it’s a community where you belong.

At Willowstone Academy we recognize that our learning space is located on the traditional, ancestral, unceded territory of the Syilx/Okanagan People.
