What you bring:
  • A British Columbia Professional Teaching Certificate. 
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in teaching and learning resource support. 
  • 2-3 years of experience leading, developing and managing a small team.
  • Advanced study in Special Education with coursework in Children with Exceptionalities, Assessment of Learning Difficulties, programming for students with special needs, and creating positive learning environments in inclusive education.
  • Evidence of excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution, and communication skills in working with staff, students, and parents.
  • Experience with literacy and numeracy intervention, and IEP development and implementation.
  • An understanding of developmentally appropriate learning and behavioral intervention strategies for children and adolescents. 
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills; you are concise and accurate in all communication forms and styles.
  • You notice what needs to change, you aren’t afraid to take action, and you see things through to completion.
  • Knowledge of technology, including Google Suite of Apps.
  • Local to the Okanagan (or willing to move) and are able to be on-site at our Lower Mission campus Monday to Friday.
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada; no job sponsorship is available.
  • While a faith background isn’t necessary, you may find that to be an asset.
What you’ll do:

Our Learning Resource Manager is the lynchpin between the school, students with IEPs, and their families, and is integral to the success of our most vulnerable students. As part of our team with a caseload of about two dozen students, you’ll work closely with administrators, teachers and CEAs, students, and parents.  Some of your primary tasks will be to:

  • Assist classroom teachers with assessment and evaluation of students/determine methods of evaluating progress and reporting achievement.
  • Review, revise, and design IEPs for new and existing students.
  • Facilitate School-based Team meetings.
  • Schedule, direct, coach, and evaluate Certified Educational Assistants in our Elementary and Middle Years programs.
  • Systematize and maintain the identification, documentation and ongoing support and funding of students who need social-emotional, behavioral, and/or academic support.
  • Communicate regularly with teachers, CEAs, and families to support student progress.
  • Maintain, develop, and provide liaisons with external agencies, school and home for children in need of social, emotional and behavioral support.
  • Work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, parents, students, and community support personnel.
